The following is taken from my documentation.
Your therapist reserves the right to charge a fee for cancellation if under a 24 hour notice. The fee for cancellation under 24 hours is $50. The only exceptions are: sudden illness or injury, or emergencies involving home or family, or if your appointment can be rescheduled for the same week. The latter is not a guarantee as your therapist has a full schedule, so moving around may not be possible. No-shows will be treated similarly. Upon not showing up to your appointment either in person or telehealth - I will wait 15 minutes, and attempt to reach out via phone or text, mostly likely text because it can be proof of my effort. If after the 15 minutes there is no response, a $50 fee will be assessed.
Late - if you are running late please communicate. Also, know that I may not be able to conduct the full hour if it goes into another appointment. For example, if our session is at 10 am and you arrive at 10:15, session will complete at 11 and I will still charge the hour. Of course, same as the cancellation policy, if there is an emergency please communicate.
Therapists in private practice do not receive paid time off; therefore, more than one last minute cancellation can drastically affect income. I appreciate your care and understanding on this topic. Further, no-shows and last minute cancellations disallow me to place another client in that spot. Please advise if you have questions.
